September’s Things

Dear 3 Flipping Things Comrade, 

I started 3 Flipping Things in the aftermath of the election of Donald Trump. I woke up that November morning realizing that I had done next to nothing to help in the 2016 election, and committed to finding ways to support our national democracy from our brave little state. 

During the 2020 elections, over a hundred of us sent tens of thousands of letters and postcards, made phone calls, sent texts, and gave money to support key races throughout our country. And while we will never know just how big a difference our actions made, we could at least sleep better knowing that we did something. 

The 2022 midterms are now in full swing, and it is time for us to get busy. We all know what’s at stake: our ability to combat climate change, our reproductive freedom, our civil liberties, and yes, our democracy itself.

Here’s what we have planned for September

Thing One: Send Letters to Georgia

As part of Vote Forward’s Big Send, we have letters to write to Georgia voters. Georgia has two major elections that are up for grabs. Our letters help get out the vote in traditionally Democratic districts. We’ll meet in person at 7 PM on <date> at the Addison County Unitarian Universalist Society to write letters. You can also pick them up at Mike’s house if you would prefer to write them at home.

Thing Two: Support New Hampshire Candidates

There are three key races in New Hampshire, and we want to support them by giving if we can, and by keeping informed about what additional help they will need as Election Day approaches.

Thing Three: Save the Dates

Please look at your calendar for October, and consider blocking out time now to lend a hand in New Hampshire, where we’ll be focusing our efforts. This might be making phone calls, or door-to-door canvassing, or driving people to the polls. We know that not everyone can just drop everything, but if you can carve out time, our democracy needs you! Here are some dates to consider blocking out:

• Sept 26: in-person letter writing to Georgia voters
• October 27: 3 flipping things social: 
• November 5-8: The Last Weekend: Canvas or call NH Voters
• Nov 8: Election Day: Drive NH Voters to the Polls

Thanks to all of you who have joined us in this effort over the years. With less than two months before the midterms, we hope you can roll up your sleeves and lend a hand in this important work. The stakes have never been higher!
